Description: This course provides instruction for using the Explosives Safety Siting (ESS) Toolkit and Site Planner software, and the Army Site Submission Electronic Tool (ASSET). Students will learn how to use the ESS software to determine explosives limits and separation distances for a potential explosion site (PES) or exposed site (ES). In addition, this course provides instruction for using ASSET, which is a web-based application designed to assist the user in developing an explosives safety site plan package and facilitate the processing and tracking of the package as it progresses through the approval process.
Length: Approximately 8 hours
Audience: Military, Army civilian and contractor personnel involved in the development and/or review of explosives safety site planning request packages.
Prerequisites: Sound working knowledge of explosives safety quantity-distance principles. Recommend completion of Ammo-82, U.S. Army Explosives Safety Quantity Distance & Site Planning, or Ammo-99-DL, Application of U.S. Army ESQD Principles, for students who are not familiar with quantity distance.
Scope: Course content includes instructions and practice exercises for using the ESS software and ASSET online tool.
Special Instructions: This course is provided as a web-based course only. Students must have the ESS software (version 6.0.0, Build 193), a CAC card, and an AKO account. Students must register through ATRRS for course credit. It is recommended that you have a high-speed Internet connection in order to view the course.
