Description: This course is a basic training course required by NAVESEA OP 5, Volume 1, and NAVSEA SW020-AF-HBK-010. It provides newly assigned inspection personnel with the up-to-date requirements, techniques, and procedures for inspection of motor vehicles on and off station for ammunition and explosives. This course provides students with instruction in compatibility, placarding requirements, and blocking and bracing for ISO intermodal containers, non-tactical and tactical vehicles. Additionally, Department of Defense (DOD), and Navy transport equipment inspection procedures using DD Form 626, Motor Vehicle Inspection (Transporting Hazardous Material), are taught. Navy transportation safety requirements and security of sensitive conventional arms, ammunition, and explosives are also covered.

Length: 2.5 days

Audience: Navy or Marine Corps personnel (military, civilian, or contractor) who perform work or are assigned functions of inspecting motor vehicles used for hazardous material shipments. Identification of personnel for whom this course is either mandatory or recommended is given in Appendix D of OP 5, Volume 1.

NOTE: Proponent has determined this course is not releasable to International Military Students.


Recommended - successful completion of Ammo-18-DL, Basics of Naval Explosives Hazard Control or Ammo-49-DL, Naval Explosives Safety Managers/Supervisors Orientation.

Security Clearance: None required. NOTE: This course is rated FD3 and is not available to International Military Students.
